2019

Activities 2019

The idea of the Rondewu is to discuss a political or a social topic throughout the week through different media and means. There will be three prepared discussions, which can serve as a common ground for follow up discussions (e.g. during the hike or in front of the fire place in the evening etc.) and as an input for the workshops.
The workshops are activities on which we will work throughout the whole week. They are meant to transport the discussion into another format (e.g. text, painting, song,..). The idea is that everyone chooses one workshop on which they work throughout the whole week with the inputs from the discussions but also from elsewhere (e.g. the environment or the library of Salecina, a good talk in the kitchen,..).
Apart from prepared workshops and discussions, there are other activities such as hiking or a party. There is also space to organize something spontaneously on spot if you feel like it.

In the end it is also very much up to the participants how the week looks like and develops.

Discussions

DISCUSSION 1: COLLECTIVE OR SOLITARY

Competitiveness has invaded the last corners of our social lives. Is our (late-capitalist, neoliberal) mode of production the root of this comepetitiveness? In many parts of the world manual labour is more and more replaced by cognitive labour that requires, in order to be productive, more and more emotional dedication. Today’s labour market pushes us to constantly optimize and specialize ourselves, to be unique and always up to date. Hence, we always need to be different and better than others.

At the same time more and more domains of our social live become commodities. Public meeting places are replaced by coffee shops, social interaction and exchange is organized through profit-oriented (social) media, the care and health sectors are being privatized and are (in in their commodified form) not accesible to many of us.

What are the increasing competition and the commodification of our social space and live doing with us mentally and emotionally? Are we losing our sense of collectivity and are we becoming more and more solitary individuals who have to compete with eachother and organize our social interactions through the market and its commodities?

We want to  discuss where in our late-capitalist world we encounter the „solitary individual“ and what it means to us emotionally and how and if we can collectiviley do something against an ubiquitous feeling of competition and solitariness. Short inputs will be followed by an open discussion.

DISCUSSION 2: TRANSFORMATIVE JUSTICE

DISCUSSION 3: CITY PLANET

Inputs for an active discussion about cities and actors who interact with and within these dynamic structures.

Other Activities

HIKING

The area around Salecina is full of beautiful hikes. According to this year’s topic “together”, we would like to experience hiking as a collective activity. Instead of athletic ambitions we want to put forward the social experience of being on a quest with all the other participants.
