Rondewu 5: Organize
Rondewu and Salecina both carry the idea of connecting people, networking, getting to know each other’s political projects and activities and build up and strengthen international solidarity and friendship.
That’s why we decided to focus on the topic “organize!” during this year’s Rondewu.
We want to focus on “organize” as a direct consequence of last year’s topic “together”. While “together” emphasizes the solidarity we need between each other in order to find a common ground, “organize” takes the idea further: We want to find out, what kind of structures already exist locally in our cities and ask ourselves what role places like Salecina can play on one hand in the development of alternative ideas to the neoliberal hegemony and on the other hand in the organizing of ourselves as individuals from different cities within Europe. How do existing lines of oppression along the borders of gender, race or class background divide us and (how) can we learn from different backgrounds? Another possible aspect of “organize” could be, how we can share skills of “organizing” people around a concrete conflict or problem, as well as exchange ideas and experiences about necessary basic structural elements of “organized” group. We don’t want to focus on ideological exclusiveness or think about some ways of organization superior to others – therefore, the aspect of what does actually count as “organized” and what does not is also a point we can elaborate on.
The Rondewu will take place from Sept 9th to Sept 16th in Salecina, Maloja. Again, we want to structure the week as follows: during the week there will be different ateliers, i.e. practical (crafty or artistic) activities or discussions in which participants can work on a project or topic during the whole week.
Furthermore, we want to offer theoretical inputs to foster the ateliers and the discussions.Of course, hiking and enjoying nature will not be missed out. We (the orga-team) are warmly inviting you to take part in our program and seminar, either by joining in or by proposing your own workshop (atelier or theoretical input). Don’t hesitate to contact us (rondewu[a]immerda[dot]ch) with your workshop idea, even if you don’t see a connection to the topic yet.

There is plenty of workshops on political and social questions. In most cases they are tied to a group or organization. At our Rendez-Vous we want to break this limitation. Put differently, we want to create a meeting place for activists from different movements and groups.
A meeting where we not only meet each other, but also learn from one another.
We want to create space for exchange and inspiration between politically active and interested people. We want to create an opportunity to build new networks and friendships. We chose Salecina not only because of the political tradition of the place, but also to experience and maintain its self-governance as a political act itself. The week’s program is compiled by the participants themselves. Everyone is invited to contribute (an activity). The format of the contribution is not predetermined and can follow different approaches (theoretical, artistic, activist,..).
